The rundown

Youngkin in Texas

Governor Glenn Youngkin was in Texas Friday morning speaking at the Texas Tribune Festival with the Washington Examiner’s David Drucker. Youngkin was pushed on campaigning with Republicans who are 2020-election deniers, what he believes Trump got right and what he got wrong, rumors about him considering a 2024 run, and abortion.

On what goes through his mind when he thinks about 2024, when there will be another presidential election, he said this topic constantly reminds him he is new to this and he still has a lot of work to do in Virginia “I am always humbled when someone asks me this question, and we really haven't contemplated,” Youngkin said, before noting he still has a busy job as governor.

“It’s very easy for me to very candidly say we are not thinking about 2024, we are focused on 2022,” he continued.

“So you're saying there's a chance,” the moderate said in response. Youngkin did not provide a direct answer to that follow-up.

Youngkin was later asked if he believes President Trump should run in 2024.
