Youngkin, Sears and Miyares endorse Peake for RPV chair
Senator Mark Peake announced his candidacy to be the next chair of the Republican Party of Virginia. This comes one day after President Donald Trump appointed the current chair, Rich Anderson, to serve as the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force.
Gov. Glenn Yougnkin, Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears and Attorney General Jason Miyares announced their endorsement of Peake Wednesday afternoon.
“Rich Anderson is a patriot and friend who served America honorably in uniform and has dedicated his life to the service of our Commonwealth and country. President Trump could not have nominated a more deserving individual to serve as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, and we know that Rich will make Virginia and America proud in this role,” they said in a joint statement. “Rich Anderson is leaving big shoes to fill at the Republican Party of Virginia, but we are confident that Mark Peake will rise to the occasion as Chairman. Mark Peake is a trusted conservative who has been at the forefront of defending our Commonwealth from the backward priorities of the far left progressive majority in the Virginia Senate. Mark is committed to winning up and down the ballot in this pivotal election year to advance the successes we have achieved together under commonsense conservative leadership. Mark Peake has our complete endorsement for Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. He will have our full support in leading our party and continuing the remarkable work of Rich Anderson.”
Peake has served in the state Senate since 2017.
He represents SD-08, which encompasses part of Bedford, Lynchburg City and Campbell County.
