Vogel endorses Segura

A spokesperson for Juan Pablo Segura (R) told Virginia Scope that state Sen. Jill Vogel (R) will not be seeking reelection and is endorsing Segura to replace her in the state Senate.

Segura recently launched his campaign after making waves when it was reported that his family is dropping at least $1 million during this election cycle.

In case you missed it:

Enrique Segura is the President and CEO of Securiport LLC, the company that donated $1 million to the Renew Virginia PAC. He is also the chairman of the board of ENSE Group, a holding company in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. with revenues of $3 billion and operations in more than 45 countries worldwide.

Enrique is Juana Pablo’s father.

Both Juan Pablo and Enrique have donated to Virginia Republicans in the past. The eldest Segura gave $25,000 to Glenn Youngkin’s gubernatorial campaign in 2021. The younger Segura gave $25,000 to Youngkin’s inaugural committee.

Juan Pablo was a co-founder of Babyscripts, a virtual maternity healthcare company.

The district where Segura is running is SD-31 in Loudoun County with a small part of Fauquier included.

Democrats hope to flip this seat as they seek to expand their majority in the state Senate this November.

Russett Perry and Zach Cummings are seeking the Democratic nomination in this district.

Analysis from VPAP shows that Youngkin won this district by .6 of a percentage point in 2021.

Davis beefs with YAL leadership

Del. Glenn Davis (R) called out the leadership of Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) for advocating against his ESA bill in favor of a similar bill from firebrand Republican Del. Marie March.

“I must have struck a nerve this week when I pointed out the enormous flaws that the YAL backed ESA bill had,” Davis posted this weekend. “They have kids walking my district with this flyer. When people call, I just send them my YouTube video & everyone seems good. Thank you to YAL for the grassroots outreach.”
