Reid crashed a Spanberger press conference

Democratic gubernatorial nominee Abigail Spanberger and the Republican lieutenant governor nominee John Reid showed up to Henrico’s West End early voting location at the same time Friday morning to commemorate the first day of early voting in Virginia.

The crowd was overwhelmingly skewed to Spanberger and was very loud when she arrived, as Reid was attempting to talk to members of the press.

After Spanberger voted, she came outside for a press conference, during which Reid interrupted to talk to her — resulting in a friendly exchange between the two.

When she finished answering a question, Reid stepped out of the crowd and said, “Well, let me do that too.”

Spanberger supporters started getting louder to interrupt Reid with boos, to which Spanberger turned to quiet them and say, “Hey, hey, hey, John Reid has put his name on the ballot.”

Spanberger then turned to Reid and said, “I hate to be the one telling you this…. I did not vote for you today.”

“I return it, but that’s okay,” Reid responded. “But I would like to demonstrate that we can still be friends. You live in Henrico, I live in Henrico. I am glad to see you always.”

Spanberger then said, “But we are too busy for coffee anytime soon, my friend.”

“Probably true,” Reid responded.

Reid thanked Spanberger and wished her a good day before heading to his car and leaving.
