DLCC makes another seven-figure investment into Virginia races
The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) announced a new investment of nearly $1.5 million to support the Virginia House Democratic Caucus and the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor, Sen. Ghazala Hashmi.
“All eyes should be on Virginia as November nears and Democrats fight to defend and expand our majority in the House of Delegates,” said DLCC president, Heather Williams. “The DLCC’s new seven-figure investment and expansion of Spotlight candidates comes as Virginia Democrats have undeniable momentum – from outraising their opponents to a record-breaking ground game. As Republicans break promises and raise costs, state Democrats are connecting with voters and standing against the chaos coming out of DC. These elections couldn’t be more important, which is why the DLCC is all hands on deck to fuel these winning campaigns through Election Day.”
The DLCC typically only works with legislative races, but they announced this summer that they are also helping Hashmi’s campaign — emphasizing the responsibility of the lieutenant governor to cast tie-breaking votes in the Senate — where Democrats have a slim majority.
The DLCC also added the following candidates to its slate of Spotlight candidates in Virginia:

Stacey Carroll (HD-64)
Nicole Cole (HD-66)
Virgil Thornton (HD-86)
DAGA drops big money in Virginia
The Democratic Attorneys General Association announced an additional $1.1 million investment in Virginia to help the Democratic nominee for attorney general, Jay Jones.
“DAGA is proud to announce our additional investment of $1.1 million into Jay Jones’ campaign,” said DAGA’s director of communications, Carolyn Fiddler. “Virginia needs an attorney general who will stop at nothing to protect their rights and freedoms and defend against federal overreach, and MAGA Miyares has continuously proven he is too weak to stand up to Donald Trump. Over the last eight months, Miyares has failed to fight back against Trump’s attacks on Virginia’s workforce, economy, and reproductive rights.”
Jones received a $1 million donation from DAGA in June after he won the nomination.
He is running against Attorney General Jason Miyares, who is seeking a second term.
Senate Democrats warn GMU to not act without quorum after blocking several appointments
Senate Democratic Leadership sent a letter to George Mason University, Virginia Military Institute and the University of Virginia telling them not to recognize the appointees that a Senate committee recently rejected. Senate Democrats also informed GMU that they do not have a quorum and cannot conduct any legal business, and sent a separate letter to the rector of GMU, citing concerns with his ties to the conservative think-tank, The Heritage Foundation.
