  • Democrats filed bills to increase the minimum wage and ban assault firearms. They also filed two Constitutional amendment proposals.

VSU to host a presidential debate

The Commission on Presidential Debates announced Monday morning that Virginia State University in southern Chesterfield County will be hosting the second presidential debate for the general election next year. This will be the first general election presidential debate ever held at a Historically Black College or University.

“We are honored to serve as the first HBCU to host a General Election U.S. Presidential Debate,” the university said in a statement after the announcement.

VSU hosted a Democratic primary gubernatorial debate in 2021.

The VSU debate will be taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
