A house divided against itself cannot stand.
by former two-term Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling (R)
I noticed the following “ticket ad” on Abigail Spanberger’s social media pages today. To her credit, Spanberger wasted no time actively promoting the full Democratic ticket that will be on the ballot in November.
What I have not seen is a similar “ticket ad” on Winsome Earle Sears’ social media pages. Will Sears actively promote the candidacy of BOTH of her running mates, John Reid and Jason Miyares?
Of course, this is a question because of the controversy that arose earlier this year between John Reid, the first openly gay nominee for statewide office, and Governor Glenn Youngkin.
You may recall that Youngkin asked Reid to withdraw from the campaign due to concerns over a social media account that bore Reid’s name and allegedly included pornographic images of gay men.
Reid strongly denied that he had anything to do with the account; but since that time, some Republicans, including Sears, have seemingly distanced themselves from Reid.
Will Sears actively support Reid, her Lieutenant Governor running mate, and campaign with him; or will she continued to distance herself from his campaign?
I’m reminded of the biblical warning: “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
Republicans need to bury the hatchet and become a united force if they’re going to have any chance of winning in November.
