Clean Virginia endorses in attorney general race
Clean Virginia announced Monday morning that they are endorsing Jay Jones in the Democratic primary for attorney general.
"Jay Jones has consistently demonstrated the leadership and integrity needed to ensure Virginia’s future is rooted in fairness, accountability and clean, affordable energy,” said Brennan Gilmore, Clean Virginia’s Executive Director. “As Attorney General, Jay will stand up to corporate interests and fight for the rights of Virginians across the Commonwealth. Clean Virginia is proud to support Jay in this critical race, and we know he will be a powerful advocate for all Virginians."
Clean Virginia backed Jones’ 2021 primary campaign and gave him $525,000 then.
They have not stated how much they plan to give Jones this cycle, but they gave Abigail Spanberger’s gubernatorial campaign $250,000 earlier this year.
"I am honored to have the endorsement of Clean Virginia as I continue to fight for a more just and accountable Virginia,” Jones said Monday. “As Attorney General, I will work tirelessly to protect families and businesses from unfair utility practices, hold corporate interests accountable and lead Virginia toward a cleaner, more affordable energy future. We deserve a justice system that puts people first, and I will always stand up for the needs of Virginia families."
