A new poll shows Spanberger leading with tighter races for LG and AG.
New poll on statewide races
A new poll from Republican-aligned Co/efficient reported results that showed a lead for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Abigail Spanberger, but a much closer contest for lieutenant governor and attorney general.
The poll was conducted from August 23 to 26. They asked 1,025 likely voters and found a MoE ±3.06%.
Notably, this is the first poll to be publicized since the sign incident that happened in Northern Virginia last week.
The poll showed a five-point lead for Spanberger, a tie between Ghazala Hashmi (D) and John Reid (R) for lieutenant governor, and a one-point lead for Jay Jones (D) over Jason Miyares in the attorney general race.
For comparison, a recent poll from Roanoke College showed Spanberger with a seven-point lead, Hashmi with a three-point lead, and Jones with a three-point lead.
Back to the Co/efficient poll, both Spanberger and Earle-Sears enjoy solid standing with voters, each viewed more favorably than unfavorably. Spanberger is rated 42%–39% favorable, while Earle-Sears stands at 40%–36%.
Voters were also asked to weigh in on several critical issues, including the cost of living, property taxes, healthcare, government spending, immigration and more. To view the full poll results click here.
