Hanger to retire

Emmett Hanger has decided to retire after serving 27 years in the state Senate. Redistricting likely made this decision easier as he would have either had to move to run for reelection or run in a primary against his Republican colleague, Mark Obenshain.

Hanger was often a moderate voice for Republicans in the Senate chamber. He was also considering a run for governor in 2021 but never fully jumped into the race.

Read more on Hanger’s decision from Cardinal News.
